The short version: we keep only what the app needs to run your tours. There are no ads, no tracking, and no analytics of our own, and we never sell your information. Followers don’t make an account. Guides can delete theirs in the app at any time.
Who we are
Explore Together is a set of apps (for iPhone, for Android, and on the web) for guided walking tours. It is made by Savi Solutions, LLC (“we”). This policy covers all of the Explore Together apps and the tour editor.
What we collect, and why
If you follow a tour
You join with a code or QR code from your guide. You don’t give a name, an email, or a phone number. The app makes an anonymous ID so that the tour server knows which tour you joined. With that ID we keep:
- the tours you joined, and which of the guide’s messages you have read;
- questions you send to your guide, and the guide’s replies;
- which stops you checked in at, and when. If you turn on Check in at stops, the app uses your location on your phone to see that you have arrived at a stop. Only the check-in (the stop and the time) is sent, not your position;
- your position, only if you choose to share it for a tour. When you join, the app asks whether to share your location with your guide, with the rest of the group, or not at all; both are off unless you turn them on, and you can change this in Settings. Your guide sees you on their map by your follower number; others in the group see only a dot, without your name or number. We keep only your latest position, only while the tour is open in the app, and we remove it when you stop sharing, leave the tour, or the tour ends;
- your answers to your guide’s quick polls, which you can change until the guide closes the poll;
- your requests to speak to the group. When the guide lets you talk, your voice goes live to the group. Live audio is not recorded or stored.
Your guide sees your questions, check-ins, poll answers, and shared location under a number (“Follower 3”), not your name.
If you guide tours
Guides sign in with their email address; we email a code, and there is no password. We keep:
- your email address, to sign you in and so that your team can invite and find you;
- your profile: a name and a photo, which your followers see, and an optional phone number, which only your team sees;
- your team (organization), your role on it, and your plan;
- the tours you and your team create: text, photos, recorded narration, and guide notes (which only the guide leading a tour sees, never followers), as well as drafts and each tour’s change history;
- quick polls you send, and the ones you save for reuse;
- schedules, who guides each session, time off, requests to swap sessions, and notifications;
- your position, only while you turn on Share my location during a live tour, so that your followers can see where you are. We keep only the latest position, and we remove it when the tour ends or you stop sharing.
If you are invited to test the app
While the apps are in testing, we invite testers by email. For each tester we keep the email address we invited, a name and the language for the email, and, for Android testers, the Google account they use on Google Play (Google needs it to let them install the test version). We also record when we emailed them, and when and with which email address they joined. We use this only to send the invitation and the links to install the test app, and to run the test. Apple (TestFlight) and Google (Google Play) handle installing the test app under their own privacy policies. Ask us at any time to remove your invitation.
On your device only
Downloaded tours, your progress, and your settings (such as the language) stay on your phone or in your browser. The camera is used to scan QR codes on your device and to take photos that you choose to add to a tour. The microphone is used to record narration and to talk live.
Our web pages
The web app, the tour editor, and the Explore Together pages on savisolutions.com use no tracking cookies and no analytics. The web app and the tour editor keep your sign-in and settings in your browser.
What we don’t do
- We don’t show ads, and we don’t track you across other apps or websites.
- We don’t use analytics or advertising tools (apart from the diagnostics that Google’s QR scanner sends, below), and we don’t sell or rent your information.
- We don’t use your information for anything other than running the app.
Services that help us run the app
These providers process information for us, only to provide their service:
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| Supabase | The tour server: the database, sign-in, and file storage for photos and narration |
| Resend | Sending our emails: sign-in codes, and invitations to testers |
| LiveKit | Live audio between the guide and the group; it is not recorded |
| Cloudflare | Hosting the web app and the tour editor, and a backup copy of tour photos and narration |
| OpenFreeMap | Map images. Your device asks for the part of the map it shows, which reveals the area but not who you are |
| OpenStreetMap Nominatim | Looking up an address when a guide places a stop in the tour editor |
| Google (Android) | The QR code scanner, which runs on your device. Google’s scanning libraries send Google diagnostics (such as how long a scan took), with an ID for the app’s installation rather than for you |
How long we keep it
We keep a guide’s information for as long as they have an account. Tours, sessions, and their questions, check-ins, and poll answers belong to the team that ran them, and they stay in the team’s history until the team removes them or the team is deleted. A follower’s anonymous ID is kept with those records.
Deleting your account
Guides can delete their account at any time:
- in the iPhone or Android app: on the Leader screen, tap Delete account (at the end);
- on the web: sign in to the tour editor, go to Team, then Delete my account.
This deletes your sign-in, your profile, and your place on each team. A team that has only you on it is deleted too, with its tours, schedules, and files. If you are the only owner of a team that has other members, first make someone else an owner. See how to delete your account for more.
Followers, and anyone who can’t use the app, can ask us to delete their information by email at support@savisolutions.com. We reply within 30 days.
Your choices
- Location, camera, and microphone are optional. The app asks first, and you can turn any of them off in your phone’s settings; the rest of the app still works.
- You can change or remove your guide profile at any time in the tour editor, under Team.
- Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, the UK, or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your information. Email us to use these rights.
Security
Everything is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). The tour server lets each person read and change only what their role allows, and guides sign in with one-time codes rather than passwords.
Children
Children can follow a tour with their family or group, but the app is not directed to children under 13, and guide accounts are for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. Followers don’t give any.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change is significant, we will also tell guides in the app.
